example of floating reedbeds
Design and construction

Small scale floating reedbed as supplied and installed by the A.G.A GroupThese reedbeds are constructed from a durable, buoyant long lasting platform supporting a coir pallet planted with Common Reed (Phragmites australis) or a variety of similar aquatic species to the client’s preference. The coir provides an ideal growing medium for the reeds allowing them to thrive in previously un-colonised areas.

Floating reed beds both enhance water quality by filtering out suspended solids and by playing host to bacteria which breakdown harmful pollutants on a variety of scales, even industrial. Reedbeds are now considered an important management tool in wetlands and provide a number of services besides effluent control such as reducing algal blooms and providing cover for spawning fish.

Wetland ecosystems can be used to treat organic and liquid waste. The needs of the client must be carefully considered however before any design is recommended.

Floating reedbed used commercially as a water treatment system The A.G.A Group can undertake the whole range of the pre-build work that ensures long term success of the system. We can carry out feasibility studies, budget costing and concept design. Our installation service will conform to all regulatory demands and work with best practice construction methods.

The A.G.A Group design, build and plant reedbed water treatment systems for domestic sewage and industrial effluent. Where required we can obtain from the relevant authorities, the necessary consent for reedbed construction and the discharge of treated water.

Treated effluent flowing from correctly constructed reedbeds will reach Environment Agency standards for discharge into most watercourses.
