River Restoration

River restoration is carried out for a variety of reasons, it can be driven by development needs as well as for erosion control or simply for landscaping or aesthetic reasons.  AGA Group Consultancy (AGA) through its experienced team can provide all aspects of advice including design concepts, construction plans and brief and all necessary consents to reinstate or reengineer a natural channel.

AGA have both technical and practical experience of the restoration of and the installation of new river channels.  Working in the natural environment Engineering Nature  requires a sensitive and careful approach to design to ensure that it has buildability applicable to these important natural environments.   We specialise in designs that  not only provide a robust bank that is capable of withstanding flood events, but also ensuring that wherever possible we include a vegetative solution.  Planting is critical to provide a sustainable solution that incorporates biodiversity and ecology benefits, all of which help to achieve improved water quality status.

AGA are experienced in the techniques utilised in the restoration of urbanised rivers, such as those with concrete channels, there restoration when carried out with a ‘green and ‘soft’ engineered approach can provide amenity benefits and of course water quality.  AGA are at the forefront of incorporating Nature-based solutions (Nbs) within their designs, increasingly using this in Natural Flood Management (NFM) solutions.
