Environmental Impact Assessments

EIAs

We take you through the requirements of Town and Country Planning (EIA) Regulations 2021.

The Environmental Impact Assessment is a key aspect of many large scale planning applications so we keep aware of the latest revision to the planning system particularly in regard to:

☞ Agricultural developments
☞ Energy and wind farm developments
☞ Infrastructure
☞ Sports and recreational facilities
☞ Urban and rural residential and commercial development

The process

Screening: We help to determine whether a planned project falls within the remit of the Regulations.

Scoping: We define the extent of issues to be considered in the assessment and reported in the Environmental Statement.

Preparing an Environmental Statement: We compile the information required to assess the significant environmental impacts of the development.

Making a planning application and consultation: We ensure statutory ‘Consultation Bodies’ and the public are given an opportunity to give their views about the proposed development and the Environmental Statement.

Final decision making: The Environmental Statement, together with any other information which is relevant to the decision, comments and representations made on it, must be taken into account by the local planning authority and/or the Secretary of State in deciding whether or not to give consent for the development. The public must be informed of the decision and the main reasons for it.
